Who Am I?
My name is Tom Nguyen and I’m an Atlanta, Georgia native, a former Pro Boxer, and a former Pro MMA fighter. I spent 20+ years competing in combat sports. I wrestled for three years in high school, started amateur boxing when I was 19 years old, got involved with no-gi submission grappling in 1999, moved on to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2000, turned to pro boxing in 2003, and fought my first MMA fight in 2004.
From 2005-2009, I focused solely on fighting MMA (see my fights). From 2009 to 2015, I focused on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu where I got up to a brown belt. Because of a herniated disk in my neck, I had to stop doing BJJ.
Why Was This Site Created?
This site has changed throughout the years. In the beginning, it was a site devoted to me as a fighter, then it became a MMA, Boxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu personal training website. Since my neck surgery, I'm no longer able to give personal training lessons. Although I wasn't able to fight train anymore, I still wanted to make a contribution to the Georgia MMA Community. Today, this site is a Georgia MMA gym directory and MMA fight video library.
It's hard to find an MMA, BJJ, Boxing, Kickboxing, or Muay Thai gym in Georgia by looking on the internet unless you're a search engine expert. Sure you could search Google, but you have to search multiple times to get what you want, so it dawned on me to start a directory of gyms in Georgia. With the gym directory on this website, I’m hoping that the search for a place to train will be much easier for everybody. I've done the legwork and gathered the most complete list of gyms or schools that offer Mixed Martial Arts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, and Kickboxing classes.
I was lucky enough to have started training in the Golden Age of Georgia MMA, so I know the fighters responsible for getting the sport to where it is today. From some of these fighters, I was able to get the Georgia MMA fights that are on this site. The end goal is to make this site a resource to find any MMA fight in Georgia. Again, you could search YouTube to find past fights, but you have to do multiple searches. Have fun on the site, and feel free to contact me and give me some feedback.
